1. Overview

Validators play a critical role in the DogeLayer network by providing decentralized verification, scoring, and reward allocation for miners.

Validators ensure that mining rewards are distributed fairly, transparently, and based on real-world performance, not self-reported data.

What Validators Do

Validators are responsible for:

• Monitoring miner performance
• Fetching miner metrics via proxy APIs
• Scoring miners based on aggregated performance
• Submitting normalized weights to the Bittensor subnet
• Maintaining network integrity and fairness

Important Clarification (v1.0.1)

Validators evaluate miner performance at the hotkey level, using aggregated metrics from all workers or rigs operating under the same hotkey.

2. Validator Role in the DogeLayer Architecture

Validators do not communicate directly with miners.

All miner performance data flows through a proxy aggregation layer, which ensures:

• Trust-minimized data collection
• Metric normalization
• Multi-rig aggregation
